About

Geumbakyeon is a place that has passed down the history of the royal family for five generations, from the royal goldsmith during the reign of King Cheoljong in 1856 to Kim Ki-ho, the national intangible cultural property No. 119. Since ancient times, gold has symbolized eternal beauty due to its unchanging light, and the royal family used gold foil to engrave patterns on their clothes. Geumbaekyeon maintains a unique traditional technique of coating gold leaf using woodblocks designed and produced by craftsmen, and promotes Korean gold leaf art by applying traditional gold leaf techniques to various materials. •

This place has been selected as a 'Seoul Future Heritage'. Among Seoul's modern and contemporary cultural heritage, Seoul Future Heritage is a tangible and intangible asset that is worth passing on to future generations.( https://futureheritage.seoul.go.kr/main/mainForm.do )
