Whashin Department Store: Jongno's Old Landmark

Gongpyeong Historic Sites Museum has stood firm throughout time and is located in front of Jongno Tower. This place is the location of Shenzhen (state-approved marketplace), which was one of the best Yuukuijeon Halls during the Joseon Dynasty era, and also housed the Whashin Department Store, which has been an established landmark in Jongno for more than 50 years. Today, Jongno Tower is known as a major landmark for those unaware of Whashin’s existence. Shenzhen Yuukuijeon, Hwashin, and Jongno Tower are commercial centers for Hanyang, Gyeongseong, and Seoul. Although these buildings are no longer in operation, the impact of these places is still felt to this day. This exhibition introduces and recalls the history of these landmarks as well as remembers those involved.
