About This Treatment

PRP hair treatment uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from a small sample of a patient's own blood. A clinician processes the blood and injects the platelet-rich portion into selected scalp areas. PRP has been studied for some types of pattern hair loss, but protocols vary and results are not guaranteed.

A 2025 systematic review identified 43 randomised trials and reported possible hair-density benefits, alongside differences between studies. PRP is not a substitute for diagnosing sudden shedding, scalp inflammation or other causes.

PDRN hair treatment is different. It uses a manufactured polydeoxyribonucleotide preparation, not the patient's blood. A June 2026 clinical commentary found limited, preliminary hair-loss evidence for PDRN. Do not assume PRP, PDRN and botulinum toxin form one standard injection protocol.

Benefits

  • Uses a patient's own blood to prepare PRP for scalp injection
  • May improve hair density in some patients with pattern hair loss; response varies
  • Can be monitored with follow-up scalp examinations and hair-density assessments
  • Does not require surgical follicle harvesting or hair transplantation

Before Your Treatment

A clinician should diagnose the type of hair loss and review scalp symptoms, medicines, previous treatments and any bleeding or infection risks. Ask which PRP preparation is used, whether PDRN is separate, and how response will be measured. Do not stop prescribed medicines without medical advice.

Aftercare

Follow the treating clinician's scalp-cleansing, activity and injection-site instructions. Temporary tenderness or swelling can occur. Seek clinical advice for worsening redness, unusual discharge, fever or severe pain. Attend follow-up reviews to evaluate response.

Important Notes

PRP is not a proven cure for every type of hair loss. Studies use different preparation and injection schedules, and results remain variable. Injection risks include pain, bruising, bleeding, infection and dissatisfaction. PDRN has much more limited hair-loss evidence; verify the precise product and the applicable Korean regulatory status before suggesting use.

Frequently Asked Questions

PRP uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from a patient's own blood, injected into selected scalp areas by a clinician.
Some studies suggest potential improvements for selected hair-loss conditions. Results vary, and PRP does not replace diagnosis or other appropriate care.
PRP comes from processed blood. PDRN is a separate manufactured DNA-fragment preparation with more limited hair-loss evidence.
There is no universal schedule. Ask the treating clinician about the exact protocol, maintenance and follow-up.
Cost depends on the product, preparation, clinic, number of visits and included services. Request an itemised quote.
Not automatically. Botulinum toxin is a different intervention, not an ingredient of PRP or PDRN. A package may list it separately; check the exact protocol and clinical evidence.
